London, May 2014
Building on the company’s experience of developing revalidation tools for the NHS, Evenlogic has launched a new electronic forms service to help doctors and their colleagues with some of the tasks that need to be performed when a doctor is being revalidated. The service is called “myrevalidation forms”. It may be reached at www.myrevalidation.org.uk/forms.
With the agreement of the GMC, we have taken key GMC questionnaires associated with revalidation and converted these to fillable, saveable, emailable PDF electronic forms. The questionnaires concerned are the self-assessment questionnaire for licensed doctors, the patient questionnaire and the colleague questionnaire. The electronic copies are each pre-filled with the name of the doctor being revalidated.
The GMC provides instructions and guidance on how their questionnaires should be distributed, collected and collated and these need to be adhered to. The instructions recommend that, for each doctor, patient questionnaires should be administered to 45 patients with the objective of collecting 34 completed copies and that the doctor should nominate 20 colleagues to complete colleague questionnaires.
As well as supporting the questionnaires, the new service incorporates a colleague nominations form, which a doctor can use to create and manage the list of colleagues who they nominate to complete colleague questionnaires.
John Jarvis, Evenlogic’s managing director, explained that having electronic versions of the questionnaires that can be completed interactively, saved and emailed is likely to be of significant help to many doctors and their colleagues, departments and practices.
He went on to say “In due course, we plan to increase the number of supported forms and to add further functionality to the service. We are considering also providing an option to allow users to submit batches of completed forms to a central facility so that the data collected can be extracted into spreadsheets for collation and analysis. We do not, however, plan to produce a comprehensive revalidation solution, only a set of useful tools.”
